As part of a longstanding hazing tradition, every new duckling in the pond must brave a terrifying downhill slide. Fortunately, Noah can prepare protective padding before taking the plunge.
Through extensive experimentation, he discovered the following relationship:
p = x^2,
where (x) is the length of the slide and (p) is the amount of padding required.
Given the configuration of the slide shown below, determine the value of (p).
